Newsletter, January 2016

Copenhagen Ceramics wishes all our ceramics-loving friends a very Happy New Year 2016.

It is now well a year ago since we closed the gallery at Frederiksberg in Copenhagen
and decided to take a break and later continue with new initiatives within our field.
And so we did. First the pause, that maybe became a bit longer than anticipated, and then we began working to produce a book on the three years of Copenhagen Ceramics in Smallegade. We managed to raise the money for the production, which is now on its way. It will present all the 27 exhibitions in text and images and have contextualizing articles by American critic and writer, Garth Clark, and Swedish art historian, Love Jönsson. We plan to launch the book in April 2016.

The book launch will happen in Milan on 13 April 2016 during the Design Week in conjunction with a new CC initiative - the opening of a large exhibition in the Salvatore Lanteri Gallery. We have been extremely fortunate to have a beautiful, newly renovated 200 sq meter space put to our disposal during the Design Week and the two following weeks. In collaboration with Salvo Lanteri we plan a significant show of selected works by a group of Danish ceramicists. We visited the gallery in December last year and were thrilled by the sight of the space. The exhibiting artists are: Morten Løbner Espersen, Kristine Tillge Lund, Marianne Nielsen, Anders Ruhwald, Bente Skjøttgaard, Steen Ipsen and Martin Bodilsen Kaldahl.

The coming couple of months will be busy organizing the exhibition, not least with securing maximum press coverage – as everyone knows there is quite a fight for attention going on during the Design Week. We look forward a lot to the project and hope we might tempt some of you to come to Milan for the opening and to experience some of the many other events going on there during this special week.

So, even if we have been fairly quiet over the past year we are still there and dream of new projects. Obviously, this will be with larger intervals, but we promise that you will hear more from us.

Again, many thanks for your support and interest. Our website is still fully accessible with all the exhibitions from 2012  - 2014. We update the blog at intervals and new sign-ups for the mail list can be made at the site under contact.

All best wishes
